Greening Homes

We work with households to green their spaces using fruit trees, traditional herbs, and vegetables. This project brings restoration closer to families by encouraging them to plant trees and grow small gardens at home. The goal is to help families see that they can be part of restoring the environment right from their own compounds, no matter how small.

Greening Homes is about starting environmental action right at the household level. We support families, especially in rural and peri-urban areas, to plant trees and set up simple gardens around their homes. These include fruit trees for nutrition, indigenous trees for restoration, and herbs or vegetables for household use. We also talk to families about the importance of soil health, composting, and water harvesting, where possible. This program is helping to build greener, healthier homes that contribute to environmental restoration, food security, and even a small income in some cases. We also use community champions to spread the message and support others to start their own greening journey.
